On behalf of the Healthy Kids, Healthy Durango campaign, thank you to the voters of Durango for supporting the health and well-being of our community and all of its residents, especially our most vulnerable and disadvantaged community members. Our campaign worked together with many dedicated volunteers for this ‘no’ vote on 1A, and we thank each person, individually, who stood up for the health of our community.

For more than 60 years, Durango residents have received water fluoridation to help prevent tooth decay in children and adults. This safe, trusted and effective process will continue to take place thanks to the support of our local volunteers and campaign workers—many of whom included doctors, dentists and health professionals.

The campaign also thanks those who supported this effort. We received support from the Durango Herald editorial board, Durango School District 9-R Board of Education and many local dental and medical professionals/practices—as well as more than 100 community members who publicly showed their support for our community’s health. We also received invaluable support from organizations focused on the health of our state, including the Colorado Dental Association, Healthier Colorado and the Colorado Children’s Campaign.

Most importantly, we thank the residents of Durango who used their vote as a means to raise their voices on issues they care about: supporting community water fluoridation and improving the health and well-being of our community.
